Guess I should have waited a day before posting.....
Anyway, I love the song and will be including it somehow someway into my own record. So it's officially a Shawn Smith song featuring Stone and Regan.
Oh, and I just made it available for free download if you want to take it into the outside world.
Thanks to everyone for the kind notes, a Brad album is in the works as well as 4 or 5 shows in October. I will tell you what cities in a few days as dates are confirmed.

BRAD fans:

I just put up a Brad song, Reason Enough, from our soon to be released new album. It's a song of mine that I am very proud of. In other words, I dig it quite a bit. I put this up without consent from the other guys so if it is taken down in the next few days you will know that Brad is a facist regime!!
Just kidding.......
Anyway, enjoy and let me know what you think......

P.S. I put up a picture of Shannon Hoon cause he loved our first record and I just felt like he would have enjoyed this song. Plus, he is the free spirit I wish I could be.....

and check out their new song at http://www.myspace.com/thediamondhand

i hope that people still read this community since it's been a while that anybody's posted here. i've breezed through the entries, hoping to find some information on The Establishment Store. i stumbled across it through amazon. anyway, has anybody ever bought merchandise from this website? and if you have, did you have any problems getting your products? i'd like to say i'm a die hard fan of satchel, brad and shawn smith, but i only have 1 of their cd's... so i'm really interested in buying what i can without having to pay the big bucks that amazon is requesting.

Brad Finishing Up Fourth Album

January 18, 2006, 11:00 AM ET

Greg Prato, N.Y.
On-again/off-again Seattle rock act Brad is close to finishing its fourth studio album. The set was recorded in 2003, after the group had returned from an Australian tour, and has a proposed title of "Best Friends." Guitarist Stone Gossard and drummer Regan Hagar are whittling down the material to album length, and are currently at 13 tracks.

"I would say it's maybe more delicate than the others," Hagar tells Billboard.com. "I think that it shows how we've all aged and mellowed. But I think it's got some really great Stone work in it -- we don't always get that from him. He has to write a lot for Pearl Jam, but for some reason, I felt that we got some really good Stone. It just seemed to blend really well with Shawn [Smith, singer/pianist]."

Several songs that should appear on "Best Friends" include "Every Whisper," "Low" (an MP3 of which can be found on Brad's Web site), "Without Regret," "Price of Love," "Believe in Yourself" and "Rush Hour."

"Some of them we played out a couple of times," explains Hagar. "The song 'Every Whisper' originally had Stone singing on it too, then we replaced it with Shawn, so it would be more continuous throughout the album. Stone's quite the singer nowadays."

"[Stone] also wrote a song called 'Holiday' that he's not sure of, but I really love and I think will be on the record," he continues. "'Without Regret' has I think Stone on drums, Shawn on guitar [and] I played slide guitar on it -- that's kind of rocking. 'Price of Love' might be the opener. 'Rush Hour' was written by [bassist] Mike Berg. That is very Satchel-like [a '90s band that featured Berg, Smith and Hagar] -- full chord, large, airy and big, but very loud. 'Low' is a bit of an odd number. Stone's playing bass and there's no guitar on it."

Although it's been nearly four years since Brad's last studio effort, 2002's 'Welcome to Discovery Park,' the group recently issued an outtakes set, "Brad vs. Satchel," via Hagar's Establishment Store site. "It's the band roughing out songs, and to me, that's a special quality that I love," he says. "I love demos. I like the finished, polished-up versions, but I like to go back to the old tapes and listen to what it sounds like to have four instruments playing in a room together, as opposed to four instruments, three background vocals [and] three keyboards over the top. I see 'Brad vs. Satchel' as a band in a room."

With Gossard busy on a new Pearl Jam studio album and tour and Smith fronting the new band the Diamond Hand, Hagar is still optimistic "Best Friends" will be out this year. "We thought about putting it out on Establishment Store, and I think that we will sooner than later if something doesn't happen," Hagar says. "I'd love to find some label that would put their arm around Shawn Smith and take on his records that the Establishment Store sells, and Brad. I'd love to have one home with an infrastructure that could take care of it."

have your high schooler (or yourself) "opted-out" [Sep. 15th, 2005|10:10 pm]
a brad community

[mood |angryoutraged]

This is copied from a recent email I received from Music For America:

What is Opt-Out About?

You've seen the flyer at our shows, and right now we're about to do a big push (see below) on the issue of the military Opt-Out for high school students. It's the way you keep recruiters from getting your personal contact info from your school.

See, Bush's "No Child Left Behind" Act says high schools have to turn their students' contact info over to The Pentagon, except for the kids who fill out a form asking to be left out. A lot of people don't even know the form exists, so that's why we made our own.

If you're not in high school, you can help fight this invasion of privacy by signing this petition to end it. If you are in high school, there's a lot more you can do. Seeee below...

Take it to Your School

High schoolers: MFA needs you for a quick and dirty military Opt-Out campaign. Your school will be selling you out to the military recruiters sometime in October. But it's easy to protect yourself and your classmates by distributing the Opt-Out form. Get a stack, plus our new antiwar t-shirt, and other good stuff, mailed to you at school by contacting jessica@musicforamerica.org. You can also download the form (English or Spanish) here.

Hey, if you're not in high school anymore, will you tell someone who is?

Thanks guys!

You can call Amy at any time to meet up with the group! Cell # 847-525-7693 :) PLEASE BRING LAWN CHAIRS FOR THE BACKYARD FESTIVITIES!! If you have a folding table, that'd be swell too.

Friday starting at 10:00 AM
Meet at Amy's house. Go to area record stores (used/rare stuff) and get a bite to eat. Get to know each other and maybe watch a few PJ video bootlegs and/or play some board games.

Friday 6:00 PM
Hang out at Amy's and later (8'ish) rock out to a first-ever performance by Alive Brain of Even Flow (a combination of three Chicagoland PJ cover bands) in Amy's backyard. Members of The Dollars also slated to perform (fresh off Warped Tour!) BYOB and a few snackalicious items to share.

Saturday starting at 10:00 AM
Meet at Amy's house and arrange a caravan to go downtown. Bring your beach gear, money and cameras as we'll be doing everything from site-seeing, to lounging on the beach, to shopping! This outing may wrap up fairly early or last into the wee hours (bar hopping anyone?) :D

Sunday starting at 12:00 PM
BBQ at Amy's house!! BYOB (some will be provided so don't worry if you can't get to a store beforehand) and of course bring some FOOOOD to throw on the grill or snack on.
